Reality TV star, Leo Dasilva, has raised an alarm over the growing sale of fake products in Nigeria.

Naija News reports that the former Big Brother Naija housemate, in a post on X, said he unknowingly bought several counterfeit items from a popular supermarket in Abuja.

He revealed that within one month, he purchased fake cod liver oil, Gestid, Sensodyne toothpaste, Simple face wash, deodorant, and other personal care products.

Leo called on the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to conduct immediate raids on major supermarkets in Abuja.

He stressed that fake pharmaceutical and skincare products pose serious health risks to the public.

He wrote: “The amount of fake drugs, fake deodorants, fake toothpaste and fake skin care in Nigeria is ridiculous. In one month, I have bought fake codliver oil, fake Gestid, fake sensodyne, fake Simple face wash, fake deodorant, etc. NAFDAC need to raid all big supermarkets in Abuja.”

Meanwhile, the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) has revealed the cause of Nollywood actor Junior Pope’s death.

Naija News reports that NIWA said the boat accident, which claimed the life of the actor and four others on the Anam River in Anambra State in April 2024, was caused by human error, not mechanical failure.

NIWA’s Managing Director, Bola Oyebamiji, revealed this during a multi-modal transportation stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja on Thursday.

He explained that the accident happened because safety rules were not followed.

Some passengers reportedly refused to wear life jackets that were offered to them before the journey.

Oyebamiji stated that there was no fault with the boat’s engine, nor was the weather or water condition to blame.
