The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has asked the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to probe veteran Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM1, over his unruly behaviour at the Abuja airport on Tuesday.

Naija News reports that NCAA, in a letter to the AGF and the IGP, through its spokesman, Michael Achimugu, said Ayinde’s attempt to block a moving ValueJet aircraft violated Nigeria’s civil aviation regulations.

The NCAA also called for a comprehensive criminal investigation and the initiation of appropriate prosecution, in accordance with the provisions of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) 2023, supra, and all other applicable laws.

Naija News recalls that on August 5, the NCAA suspended two ValueJet pilots over a safety breach that occurred at the same airport terminal.

The preliminary findings revealed that the pilots initiated departure procedures without obtaining the mandatory pre-departure clearance, a violation that posed serious risks to ground personnel and other airport users.

The breach reportedly followed a commotion onboard the flight, allegedly caused by Kwam 1’s conduct.

The Fuji icon was seen drinking from a flask aboard the aircraft. A flight attendant intervened, suspecting the liquid was alcohol, a banned substance on Nigerian flights.

In its official statement, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) said Kwam 1 attempted to board the aircraft with an unidentified liquid despite repeated warnings from Aviation Security (AVSEC) and the flight captain.
